The majority of the ideas that are on this page are ideas that I found by surfing the internet, Facebook and Pinterest and I am in no way claiming any of these ideas as my own.

As always check with your veterinarian before making homemade treats to ensure that the ingredients are SAFE for your pet.

 

Canine Companion Recipes

 

Dog: Banana and Peanut Butter Pupscicles and Yogurt and Berries Pupsicles

Banana and Peanut Butter:

  • 2 ripe bananas

  • 2 tbsp of peanut butter (No artificial sweeteners)

Yogurt and Berries:

  • 1/4 cup blueberries or strawberries

  • 1- 5 oz container of plain Greek Yogurt.

Whichever recipe you choose blend in a blender or Bullet then smear on a licking surface or pop into a silicon mold and freeze!


Dog: Taste Like Summer

  • sliced watermelon

  • Banana and Coconut Squeeze baby food

  • Sweet potato and Pumpkin Squeeze baby food

Using an ice cube tray, place a piece of watermelon in the bottom of the try then fill up the rest of the mold with the Squeeze of your choice. Then Freeze.


 

Dog: Cool Tuna

  • fresh diced parsley

  • diced cucumber

  • canned tuna

  • diced watermelon (no skin).

  • coconut and banana squeeze baby food.

Mix all together and place in your favorite feeder toy: Kong, Licki-bowl, Kong Wishbone, Licki-Mat, Slo-bowl and more! Freeze for added difficulty.


 

Dog: Apple Oat Balls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated apple

  • 1 ¼ cups grated carrots

  • 1 ¼ cups quick-cooking oats

  • ½ cup natural peanut butter (xylitol-free)

  • 2 eggs

 Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line two 9x13 baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Mix the grated apple, grated carrots, and oats in a large mixing bowl. 

  3. In a second bowl, whisk the peanut butter and eggs until thoroughly combined. Pour them into the apple mixture and stir all the ingredients together.

  4. Scoop about 1 ½ tablespoons of batter in a ball and place onto the prepared baking sheets. Flatten each treat until they are ½-inch thick.

  5. Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes until the treats begin to brown around the edges and are firm to the touch. 

  6. Allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheets before moving to a wire rack to cool entirely.


Summer Salad Kong Stuffer

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of plain GREEK yogurt

  • 1/2 cup of kibble

  • 1/2 cup of green beans or peas

  • 1/4 cup of chopped strawberries or blueberries

Instructions:

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and stuff in your dogs favorite Kong for feeder toy and FREEZE it!


 

Cat: Did someone say cake!

  • 1/2 a 5 oz can of flaked chicken

  • 2 tbsp flaked tuna

  • 2 tbsp of sweet potato puree

  • garnish with crumbled up treats of your choice

Combine the chicken and tuna in a bowl making sure to break up any large pieces. Then add in the sweet potato puree a little at a time (this is what will give your cake its shape.) Next, pat the mixture into the shape if your choice and top with crumbled treats.

You can serve as is or use them for stuffing/smearing in feeder toys!

 

Cat: Tuna-Nip Treats

  • 1 14.75oz of canned tuna

  • 1-tbsp of dried catnip

  • 1-2-tbsp of water

  • 1 cup of coconut flour

  • 1 egg

  • 1-tbsp of olive oil

Preheat the oven to 350. Combine all ingredients in a food processor. Next, pinch the mixture into small crouton shapes and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the oven for about 12-15 minutes until browned. All them to cool completely before giving to your cat. Can store in an air tight container in the fridge for a week.

 

Catnip chicken biscuits

  • 1/2 cup shredded canned chicken (check ingredients: just chicken, water)

  • 1/4 cup of oat flour

  • 1 egg (beaten)

  • 1 tbsp of dried catnip

  • 2 tbsp of water

  • 1/4 tsp of powdered taurine (optional)

  • 1/4 tsp of fish oil

Preheat of to 350 degrees, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl mix all the ingredients, and add the water gradually until a dough forms. Roll the dough into small bite-sized balls, then flatten with a fork. Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool completely before serving.

Dog: Chicken Pot Pie

  • Fresh or canned (no added ingredients)

  • Farrots

  • Plain Greek Yogurt

  • Canned Chicken ( with just water and salt).

Mix together and stuff in a Kong, Wishbone, or Licki bowl! Freeze for added difficulty.


 

Dog: Veggies and Rice

  • 1/2 cup of fresh peas

  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots

  • 1/2 cup of shredded zucchini

  • 1/2 cup of cooked brown rice.

Mix all together and place in your favorite feeder toy: Kong, Licki-bowl, Kong Wishbone, Licki-Mat, Slo-bowl and more! Freeze for added difficulty.


 

Dog: Meatballs

  • 2.5lbs of lean ground beef

  • 1 slice of bread chopped into small pieces

  • 1 egg

  • flour

  • 1/2 cup if Oat Bran

  • 1 can of pumpkin puree

  • 1 carrot boiled and smashed

  • Kale stalks finely chopped.

Combine all ingredients (except the flour). Once ingredients are combined shape into balls. roll the balls lightly in flour to coat them. place in a pre-heated oven of 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Then let cool.

You can serve as is or use them for stuffing in feeder toys!


Dog: Blueberry crunchy cookies

  • 2 Tbsps. of Coconut Oil

  • 1 1/4 cup of Whole meal Flour

  • 1/2 cup of Blueberries

  • 2 Eggs

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Then, melt the coconut oil in the microwave, combine with flour and one egg at a time until you create a dough. Next, fold in the blueberries to the dough. Cut into shapes before placing them on a baking sheet if you like (wink). Lastly, bake until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving to your pup.


 

Dogs: Frozen Fall Trifle Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of PLAIN pureed pumpkin

  • 1 cup of PLAIN Greek yogurt

  • 1 tsp of pure maple syrup (no artificial sweeteners)

  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon

  • 1 cup of mashed banana.

Instructions:

you will need a silicone mold of your choice for this recipe.

  1. Spoon a small amount of the mashed banana into the mold and then freeze (15-20 minutes).

  2. mix the cinnamon with the pumpkin and then use as the second layer in your mold. Then freeze.

  3. Mix the maple syrup with the yogurt and use as your last layer in the silicone mold (top layer).

  4. Then freeze again for 1 hour.

You can then serve to your pet, or utilize in a Kong!


 

Feline Companion Recipes

 

Cat: This Ice Cream seems Fishy

  • 1/2 cup of cooked salmon

  • 1/4 cup if finely grated pumpkin

  • 1/2 cup of lactose free non-sweetened yogurt

Mix all ingredients together in a food processor until creamy. Poor the mixture into ice pop containers or an ice cub tray and freeze.

You can serve as is or use them for stuffing/smearing in feeder toys!

 

CaT: Oh is that Gravy!

  • 1/4 cup diced celery

  • 3 cups of chicken broth

  • 1/4 tsp of salt

In a small saucepan with cook the celery over medium heat until soft. Then add the chicken broth and salt. After it starts to boil reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. If needed can then mix lightly in a food processor. Allow to cool completely before serving to your cat.

 

Purrrfect Popcicles

  • 2 bananas smashed

  • 2 cups of plain yogurt

  • 1/4 cup crushed dry cat food or treats

Combine the mashed bananas and yogurt in a bowl and mix until combined. The mixture should be smooth. Next, crush the cat food or treats and place a small amount in eat mini paper cup. Scoop, the banana mixture evenly into the mini cups. Tap the cups once full to release any air, and then freeze overnight!

Dog: Orange my favorite color

  • shredded cheese (white or orange)

  • canned pumpkin, or fresh plain roasted pumpkin (No skin).

  • carrots.

Mix together and place in a Licki-bowl, stuff in a Kong or other stuffing feeder toy, or smear in a slow bowl feeder. Freeze for added difficulty.


 

Dog: Buddha Bowl

  • baby carrots cut up into bite size

  • 1 cup of pumpkin puree

  • 1/2 of unsweetened dried cranberries (check ingredients).

  • 1 cup of plain applesauce

  • 1 tbsp of peanut butter (No sugars just peanuts and salt).

Mix all together and place in your favorite feeder toy: Kong, Licki-bowl, Kong Wishbone, Licki-Mat, Slo-bowl and more! Freeze for added difficulty.


Dog: Banana Squash Treats

  • 1 cup of cooked cubed butternut squash

  • 2 eggs

  • 1 banana

  • 1 1/4 cup of flour

Pre-heat the oven to 365 degrees and bake the butternut squash until soft (no skin). Then mix the butternut squash with the banana, and add the eggs, and flour. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes in the fridge. Roll out the dough and use cookie cutters of your choice to cut out the treats. Then bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Treats should still be a little moist when you pull them out. Let them cool completely before giving to your pet.


 

Dogs/Cats: Pumpkin Surprise treats

  • 14oz can of Salmon (no salt or oil added)

  • 1/2 cup old fashion oats

  • 1/3 cup of PLAIN pumpkin puree

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tbsp avocado oil

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Add the oats to a blender and blend into a fine flour. Next, open the can of salmon and drain any excess liquid. Then, combine the oat flour, salmon, pumpkin, egg, and avocado oil and mix well. Form dough into small “cookies” or you can use a silicone mold then place on a baking sheet. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Allow to cool completely before serving to your pet! store in the fridge for 3-5 days.


Holiday Cookies for your Furry Friend

Ingredients

• 2 cups fresh sweet potato puree

• 1 egg

• 1/2 cup oats

• 3 cups whole wheat flour

• 3 Tbsp of all natural peanut butter

• 1/2 tsp cinnamon

• 1/2 salt optional, I didn't use

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. Peel and cube two medium sweet potatoes and bring to a boil in pot of water. Reduce to low and simmer approximately 15-20 minutes or until soft. Drain cooked potatoes and puree using blender or food processor.

3. In small bowl, stir together the flour, oats, and cinnamon.

4. In a separate large bowl, whisk together the egg, sweet potato and peanut butter until combined. Stir wet ingredients into dry.

5. Pour onto a floured surface and roll dough out to 1/4 - 3/8 thick. Cut out using Christmas cookie cutter. The dough will be a little sticky, dust your hands and the rolling pin with a little flour to help!

6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.

7. Place on cooling racks and let cool thoroughly. They will harden as they cool.


 

Cat: savory pate

  • 4 chicken livers

  • 1-tbsp of cooked potato or sweet potato

  • 1-tsp olive oil

  • 1-tsp fresh parsley

Boil a small saucepan of water and cook the chicken livers for 3 minutes. Then at the potato and the livers to a food processor (don’t process to fine.) Next, mix in the olive oil and parsley. shape and serve to your cat at room temperature.

You can serve as is or use in or on a feeder toy!

 

CaT: Salmon Bites

  • 1 14.75 oz of canned tuna

  • 1 medium egg

  • 2 cups of rice flour

Preheat the oven to 350. Placed the canned tuna with the liquid in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Add the egg and flour and process until you have dough. Roll the dough out in-between to layers of parchment paper about 1/4 of an inch thick (if needed can add a little sprinkle of flour if the dough gets sticky). cut out with XS cookie cutters or manually cut out shapes. Place your cut treats onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake the treats for 20 minutes, turning halfway through. Remove and cool completely. Store in a airtight container in the fridge for up to one week.
